GAKIDO’s Official US Debut at Oni-Con

Many of you who’ve been following the convention’s blog and message boards already know that this year’s musical guest will be GAKIDO.  A five member band out of Japan that’s gone through some challenging trials since their debut into the scene in 2008.  They were most notable for having two vocalists (Piyo and Yohya) but due to an unfortunate car accident resulting in Piyo’s death (You my boy Piyo!) there has been no word of adding any new members to the band.

Let me just say that any band who can bounce back from losing a vocalist for any reason deserves some mad props.  I’m not even a fan but I’ve got my eye on GAKIDO a lot closer now than I ever have been.  I’m only sorry that it took losing Piyo to get my attention (he had an amazing vocal range live).  But GAKIDO’s been hitting the grind stone and have been doing the best they can to be ready to perform for all of us.  I’m going to take it back old school and give GAKIDO some “big ups” (1994!) for their dedication and effort.

Yohya, Shutaro, Yuu, Rito and TOSSY are going to bring it hot to Oni-Con so get ready!  Pre-Reg as soon as you can and show your support for an awesome band that should be recognized for their talent as well as their character.
